SESSION 17: Rheological Measurement – Methods, Equipments and Errors (RMMEE)


There are several methods and equipments to measure and characterize the flow and deformation behaviors of materials with different nano, micro and macrostructures and chemical, physical and mechanical properties.Moreover each sample has particular characteristics so there are many errors can be committed  in the measurement of the rheological properties of samples. Each experimental approach and instrumental set-up is possibly subjected to more or less serious problems that can bias the measurement results and thus their accurate interpretation. For example, sedimentation, evaporation and slip on tools are common phenomena. Despite the importance of such events for the obtained measurement results, they are not always kept in mind by the experimenters. A better awareness of possible errors associated with the methodology and equipment used would improve the quality of rheological studies.

Session RMMEE provides a platform for discussion and simulation of the recent achievements in rheological measurement methods and equipments as well as in evaluation methods and techniques to deal with measurement errors. The session is of interest not only for scientists, researchers and PhD students working with rheological measurement in a wide range of academic disciplines (physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering)  but also for equipments users and developers.
